Abstract

In September 2024, the level of inequality in West Java's population expenditure as measured by the Gini Ratio was 0.428. This figure has increased by 0.007 points compared to the March 2024 Gini Ratio of 0.421, and increased by 0.003 points compared to the March 2023 Gini Ratio of 0.425.
The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2024 was recorded at 0.439, an increase compared to the Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2024 of 0.434 but remains the same when compared to the Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2023.
The Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2024 was recorded at 0.327. This figure has increased compared to the Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2024 (0.325) and March 2023 (0.321).
Based on the World Bank's inequality measure, the distribution of expenditure in the bottom 40 percent group is 16.48 percent. This means that population expenditure in September 2024 is in the moderate inequality category. If detailed by region, in urban areas the figure is recorded at 15.91 percent, categorized as moderate inequality. Meanwhile, in rural areas, the figure is recorded at 20.74 percent, which means it is included in the low inequality category.
