The Head of the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (Dr. Margo Yuwono, M.Si) and the Chancellor of the University of Padjadjaran (Prof. Dr. Rina Indiastuti, S.E., M.SIE) inaugurated the "Unpad Statistical Corner", Wednesday (7/9/2022). The facility, which is located on the 2nd floor of the Unpad Central Library Building, Jatinangor Campus, is a form of collaboration between BPS West Java Province and Unpad (especially FMIPA).
The Unpad Statistical Corner is the first Statistical Corner to be inaugurated in West Java Province. “The Statistical Corner is a service from BPS to the academic community. The hope is that the data in BPS can be developed with other resources, so that it can be closer to the main consumers and can contribute to the development of knowledge," said Margo (Head of BPS).
In line with Margo, Head of the Central Statistics Agency of West Java Province, Marsudijono, S.Si., M.M said that the Statistical Corner is here to bring information, especially the Statistical Sector, in public spaces. "With the presence of the Statistical Corner at Padjadjaran University, it is hoped that it will become a means of improving public services that will be useful for lecturers, students, to access statistical data and information more easily," Marsudijono hoped.
"Hopefully the presence of the Statistical Corner will train us all to use correct and accurate data," said the Chancellor in his remarks at the inauguration ceremony at Bale Sawala Unpad, Jatinangor.
The Chancellor hopes that the Statistical Corner will be used optimally by the Unpad academic community. This facility is not only to provide data, but really helps the Unpad academic community to be able to interpret the data correctly. “The challenge in the Statistical Corner is how to provide consultation on reading, processing, and sounding data. So the Statistical Corner does not only provide data, but at the same time there will be consultants or friends from the Statistics Study Program, lecturers and students who will help us all interpret the data itself, "said the Chancellor.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Regional Secretary of Sumedang Regency Herman Suryatman, BPS leaders in cities/districts throughout West Java, Deputy Chancellor for Research and Innovation Prof. Hendarmawan, Dean of FMIPA Unpad Prof. Iman Rahayu, Chair of the Indonesian Statistics Higher Education Forum (Forstat) who is also Deputy Dean I of FMIPA Unpad Yudhie Andriyana, M.Sc., Ph.D, a number of university and faculty leaders within Unpad, as well as other invited guests.
In addition to the inauguration, Margo Yuwono also held a public lecture with the theme “Statistics for Indonesia to Recover and Rise Stronger” at Bale Sawala Unpad Rectorate Building, Jatinangor. The public lecture was attended by more than 732 participants who attended both offline and online.
