Analysis of Plantation Business Households in Indonesia in 2014

The plantation subsector plays an important role in the Indonesian economic sector. This role can be seen from the contribution of the plantation subsector to Gross Domestic Product. Even though in the last decade the share of the plantation subsector has decreased slightly, if we look at the trade balance for the last five years, the plantation subsector is the only subsector that has a positive value for the agricultural sector. The decline in the share of the plantation subsector was also followed by a decline in the number of households operating plantation crops. Over the course of a decade there was a decline of around 1.3 million plantation households. So it is necessary to see what is the cause of the decline in business households. This plantation subsector needs attention because apart from being reliable as a foreign exchange earner, it is also used to absorb labor.
