Jawa Barat Poverty Rate March 2009

The number of poor (population below the Poverty Line) in Jawa barat in March 2009 amounted to 4,983,570 people (11.96 percent). Compared with March 2008 which amounted to 5,322,440 people (13.01 percent), the number of poor people in March 2009 decreased by 338,870 people (1.05 percent). The number of poor people in March 2009 for urban areas was 2,531,370 people (10.33 percent of urban population) while in rural areas 2,452,200 people (14.28 percent). Jawa barat poverty line in March 2009 amounted to Rp. 191,985, - or an increase of 8.95 percent compared to the poverty line of last year's condition in the same month (Rp 176,216, -). In the span of 12 months there was inflation "years on years" in March 2009 to March 2008 amounted to 7.45 percent. For urban areas the poverty line in March 2009 amounted to Rp. 203,751, - or an increase of 6.77 percent from the previous year's condition (Rp 190,824, -), while the rural poverty line increased sharply by 12.76 percent to Rp. 175,193, - compared with the year 2008 which amounted to Rp. 155.367, -.
